Policy Platform Development
Developing a policy platform is on your campaign to-do list. Your team knows what it should say. But you don't have the time to write it, or anyone to run the process so it actually gets done.
That's what I do.
I manage the entire platform development process, from getting your experts' ideas out of their heads and into a draft, through revisions to a finished, designed document with launch collateral ready to go. Your team's job is to show up, weigh in, and approve.
I also bring something your internal experts can't always provide: distance from the material. Policy experts often write for other policy experts. I write for the people who need to be moved to act: decision-makers and their staff who are busy, skeptical, and not steeped in your issue. That's a different kind of writing, and it's built into everything I produce.
What you get:
A launch-ready policy platform your team didn't have to carve out weeks to write, including:

-
Final designed policy platform document

-
Facilitated consensus on platform priorities and content

-
Policy language translated into plain, persuasive writing that decision-makers and their staff will understand

-
Launch collateral, such as talking points, fact sheets, media kit
How it works:
1. Your experts talk. I draft.

I get your policy experts on a call and ask them to talk me through it. I guide the conversation, take the notes, and turn it into a working draft. The expertise stays with your team. The production work – and the translation from policy language into writing that moves decision-makers – comes to me.

2. Revisions keep moving.

I facilitate the revision process so your team is making decisions, not going in circles. I keep the document moving and the deadlines real.

3. Design and production: handled.

When your team approves the final draft, I work with a graphic designer to produce a finished document. I manage the designer, the revision rounds, and the deadlines. You review and approve.

4. Launch-ready platform: done.

I work with you to identify what collateral you need for launch – talking points, fact sheets, media kit – and produce it. When we're done, you have everything you need to put this in front of decision-makers.
Working with coalitions
Coalition platforms are more complicated. Partners share goals but don't always agree on approach. And, getting everyone to sign off on final language takes more time, more facilitation, and someone who can hold the process together without damaging relationships.

If your platform involves coalition partners, here's how the process adapts.

-
I connect with key partners early to understand their priorities and where the real common ground is.

-
The revision process includes additional rounds to bring partners along and resolve points of disagreement.

-
I manage the sign-off process so you're not chasing partners.

The timeline is longer. But you get a platform your partners actually stand behind – and you have time to focus on policy discussions and not project management.
